Oak Island/ Southport Boat Rental Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can fit on the boat?
Our lake boats can handle up to 10 individuals. Got more than that? Give us a call, and we’ll try our best to find a boat that fits your crew.
What happens if it rains?
A little rain never hurt anyone, but for serious weather, we’ve got you covered. We’ll reschedule for heavy rain, thunderstorms, or anything that makes boating unsafe. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll take care of the rest!
If any of the following happens while you’re on the water, we’ll credit your reservation towards another rental this season:
- Heavy rain lasting more than 45 minutes (because who wants to be soaked that long?)
- Lightning, tornado warnings, or high wind advisories (safety first, always)
- Any conditions that our team deems unsafe for boating
Just a heads up: Weather credits or rain checks are given in person, on the day of your rental, and are based on the actual weather, not what the forecast says might happen later.
In case of serious situations like medical emergencies or family crises, let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll do our best to accommodate a rebooking.
What does the insurance cover?
Our insurance is all about liability. It covers you up to the policy limits in case of an accident. Want the details? We’ll go over everything when you book.
Do we drive the boat, or is a captain provided?
You’re the captain now! You’re responsible for the boat, but if you’d rather kick back, you can hire a USCG-licensed captain. Just remember, the responsibility for the boat still lies with you.
Are glass bottles or containers allowed?
Nope, no glass allowed. It’s illegal to have glass containers on the lake, so keep it safe and opt for cans or plastic instead.
