- Strengthening and supporting the communities we call home -

At Morningstar Marinas, our managers and staff members are local to the communities where they work. As an active business, we think it’s important to play an active role in supporting and strengthening the communities we call home through our Morningstar Cares program.
Our marinas host tournaments and events throughout the year to raise funds for local non-profits. Organizations we’ve supported over the years include local Boys & Girls Clubs, the Dragon Boat cancer survivors and Captain Don Dingman’s Hook the Future Kids Foundation.
Annual Charity Programs
Fishing Derby Featuring Captain Don Dingman
Hosted by Morningstar Marinas | Mayport
Mayport’s annual Fishing Derby features Captain Don Dingman and TV’s Hook the Future crew as they film an episode around the event. The tournament consists of offshore and inshore divisions with cash prizes and weigh-in raffle drawings. All proceeds benefit the Hook the Future Foundation.
Lake Norman Leukemia Cup Regatta
Hosted by Morningstar Marinas | Kings Point
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Leukemia Cup Regatta raises millions of dollars for lifesaving research and patient services, bringing help and hope to patients and their families. Anyone with an interest in regattas and a passion about raising funds to cure cancer can participate. Participants include sailboat enthusiasts - skippers and sailors - and spectators who like to watch from shore and cheer the sailors on.
Mathews Boys & Girls Club Flounder Tournament
Hosted by Morningstar Marinas | Gwynn’s Island
Gwynn’s Island hosts an annual Flounder Tournament benefitting the local Boys & Girls Club. There are multiple divisions: Regular Anglers, Seniors, Ladies and Youth. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the talk among anglers and complimentary steamed crabs. This is a charitable event with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Mathews Boys & Girls Club.
Red Trout Celebrity Classic Tournament
Hosted by Morningstar Marinas | Golden Isles
Golden Isles is the host site for the Annual Golden Isles Red-Trout Celebrity Classic fishing tournament. Teams of two anglers each fish with a local Coast Guard licensed fishing guide. Anglers fish for two days, and have annually caught and released between 800 to 1,000 reds and trout. The event benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in its efforts to “Catch the Cure” for cystic fibrosis. For more information, visit www.cff.org.
Crabbing for Charity Tournament
Hosted by Morningstar Marinas | Bahia Bleu
Bahia Bleu hosts its annual Crabbing for Charity Tournament every fall. Awards are given for the heaviest dozen crabs, and all proceeds are donated to the charity of the winner’s choice. This is a great opportunity for Bahia Bleu customers to enjoy good food and live music with their fellow boaters.
Mathews Rotary Rockfish Tournament
Hosted by Morningstar Marinas | Gwynn’s Island
Gwynn’s Island hosts the Mathews Rotary Rockfish Tournament each December. Cash prizes are awarded to the winning contestants, and all proceeds benefit the Rotary’s scholarship program and other community projects.
