Morningstar venture buys marina

A joint venture of local self-storage operator Morningstar Properties and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital has purchased a marina in St. Simons, Ga.
The Golden Isles Marina is the fourth marina joint venture between Morningstar and Harrison Street, a Chicago-based real estate private-equity firm.
"We are delighted to announce Golden Isles Marina as the most recent member of the Morningstar Marinas family," says Dave Benson, president of Matthews-based Morningstar. "This is an exciting chance for us to combine two exceptional marinas, expand our presence in Georgia and to partner with Harrison Street on a marina transaction."
Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
With the addition of Golden Isles Marina, Morningstar owns and operates more than 2,800 dry and wet berths in four states in the Southeast. The company plans to continue to buy, develop and redevelop marinas from Maryland to Florida.
