Marina News + Events

Great Lakes Marina was the host site for the United States Power Squadron District 9 Picnic with Commander Jay Stevens on Friday, August 1.  The Power Squadron plays a huge role in boater safety here in the Great Lakes and across the nation.  The Power Squadron, a few members of which are slip customers here at GLM, offer Free Vessel Safety Checks.  Once your vessel has passed the safety check, you are given a sticker to place on your boat signifying that you’re in compliance with the legal requirements for vessel safety, including up-to-date flares and fire extinguishers, life jackets for all ages of passengers, operating batteries and bilge pumps, along with the proper placards.  While safety is very important in preventing being pulled over by the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Marine Division and Coast Guard, it more importantly helps ensure a safe boating summer :-)

Weekend Events!

The Tri-Port Challenge, hosted by Great Lakes Marina last weekend was a success!!  The Tri-Port Fishing Challenge was very well attended throughout the three ports, with Great Lakes Marina being the hub of activities.  GLM’s own boaters fared very well.  Some of our GLM winners include, in the Pro Division Don Johnson placed 3rd!!! and Tom Manthei placed 16th!!!
